We understand that there is a Pearland connection in that one alleged scandal participant is assigned to an Alvin ISD school in Pearland's city limits (near the Nolan Ryan Expressway).
At any rate, this alleged scandal is w-a-y outside the scope of this blog. However, since no bloggers are writing about this, and the newspapers refuse to report specific information (and even delete some comments) related to this incident, we believe that there needs to be a venue for open discussion about the matter. Our intent is not to use our blog as a message board about this incident. We've discovered an old, moribund Yahoo! group dedicated to discussions about Alvin ISD. We'd like to suggest that interested people click on the preceding link and use the Alvin ISD group to discuss Mr. McGowen's resignation.
In an unrelated story, Ultimate Pearland reported that Manvel High held a Shattered Dreams program today. We don't know a darn thing about the Shattered Dreams program, but Manvel High principal Darrell Alexander said, "Counselors will be available if students become emotional". If Mr. Alexander says a counselor will be available, you can take it to the bank.

I would like to know what really happened. If administrators are corrupt they should be exposed and I am sure that there is a newspaper out there that would be willing to print the story. I am just now hering about it through the posts.

I'd like to know what happened, too. The number of people involved in this scandal is simply bizarre. I understand that Robby McGowen admitted to certain acts, but denied others. The consensus on the newspaper comment boards is that Mr. McGowen's resignation suggests that he did do the things he denies.
I'd like to know more about the role of the Human Resources Department in this scandal. My understanding is that one HR official was involved in the central circle of the scandal. The newspaper message boards seem to implicate the Asst. Superintendent of Human Resources. I don't know what, if anything, he did, but I honestly don't believe that he was in the central circle. Who knows? Everyone is dancing very carefully around this matter.

Well, they are looking for a Director of HR-Secondary. Who was in that position?

According to Alvin ISD, a fellow by the name of Rudy Carlin is HR Director - Secondary Education. According to comments in the Alvin Sun Mr. Carlin has a new assignment in the bus barn. Perhaps that is why AISD is looking for a new HR Director.
In the original post I wondered what the HR Director over secondary schools was doing. Maybe he's scraping chewing gum off of seats of school buses.
Will AISD have any openings for secondary school principals or counselors next year?

Thank you ACR. I see that in this old town the manure stills rolls down hill. I expect that there will be other changes forthcoming. A coment from one of the board members at the meeting said that there are teachers retiring, and others are choosing to be stay at home parents. I am sure they are not through as Alvin HS has several postings for coaches and the principal said he was not being investigated that "he knew of".
As far as the bus barn, you may be right. Scraping gum may be what he does, however, many bus drivers much of which are female have a history of lewd conduct, including communicating with the students via text messages. That should be looked at as well.
Another arrogant employee that is no longer there I see is Rudy who was the Ops Mgr. I had words with him. It seems that he believes most people are beneath him. I wonder what happened to him.
Thank you for your response.
Darrell should be in trouble again pretty soon. A black female coach has filed a discrimination suit against Manvel high school with the EEOC and some paraprofessionals were not allowed a lunch break for 3 years so im sure that's another lawsuit from the labor board on its way.
